Well, I'm starting to get some flack about not posting from our camp trip last weekend (March 10-12). The problem is, this one's gonna have to be written because we have no pics yet. Darcy and I desperately need a digital camera, and Scott and Kim didn't come this trip..so that left Mitch as the official blogger photographer. He used his own camera and the pics aren't developed yet, so when we get them, and scan them, we'll post them at a later date.
Jen, Aaron and Autumn were supposed to come this trip, unfortunately Autumn and Arianna were both sick! That's two trips they missed out on, hopefully next time it will happen for them! So, Darcy, Mitch, the dogs and I all left town about 3:00, Darcy and I both managed to leave work early on Friday. It was raining in town, by the time we hit the camp road it was only misting a bit. We soon realized that Kenny, Bernie and Daryl were all up for a weekend of ski-dooing at their camp. They popped in for a few beers Friday night, we had a fire going outside and the rain held off till midnight. It was a really nice evening, very mild!
Saturday was bright, sunny, mild but extremely windy! We got up early, had some coffee and bagels, and cleaned up the camp some. Jody, Melanie and their baby Ben were due to arrive at noon. Darcy planned to meet them out where we park the vehicles, so he and Mitch (Mitch brought his four-wheeler), both left about 11:30am to pick them up. They took the radio with them, and left me one, but didn't tell me about it! I stayed outside for the next 1 and 1/2 hours playing with the dogs in the yard, and poking at the fire...meanwhile the radio was inside the camp. Darcy and Mitch were trying to reach me the whole time, wondering what time it was..Jody and Mel were a bit late. Anyway, they all arrived safe and sound at 1:00, and little Ben slept the whole way in, on the back of the four-wheeler (Melanie was carrying him in a snuggly). As soon as they got in, we set up the playpen and laid Ben down, he continued to sleep the rest of the afternoon. We stayed outside all day and all night...it was really nice out! We had a huge fire going, the boys took a few trips on the bikes, and Mel and I just vegged out. Occasionally we'd go in, feed Ben, change his bum, and back to sleep he went! What a good baby!
Jody and Mel also brought Kaiser, their german shepard. Our dogs, especially Jake, got along quite well with him. Kate doesn't like anybody, so no surprise there! The only thing I can say that sucked about the weekend was the wind..it never let up until Sunday..of course! Sunday was extremely beautiful..we were walking around outside with t-shirts on! Jody cooked us some breakfast, Melanie did the dishes, I fed Ben, and Darcy and Mitch packed up. We all left around noon...we hated to leave it was such a nice day!
We'll be heading back up next weekend, soon enough we'll be able to drive right in..there's hardly any snow left on the camp road. So much for ski-dooing this winter! We took the four-wheeler more than the snowmobile!
I decided to include a picture from last deer season, this was sent to us from our buddy Rene aka "Stephan", we met him through Jen and Aaron. It's a pretty cool pic considering the only light is from the fire, which is why they all look so orange, heh heh! In case anybody's wondering, from left to right is Scott, Darcy, Rene and Aaron.
So, that's all for now, I'll do another post later, when Mitchell's pics come in! Till next time, Lissy
